Alpha's quick-waistline cold weather parka was developed for air and deck crewman subject to intense cold weather. Particular attributes necessary by military pilots and crew members serving in intense cold weather circumstances led to distinctive layout specs in the N-2B. For example, the entrance pockets provide a 'pass-thru' slash layout so that crew members could reach into their pant pockets without taking their fingers out of the jacket pockets. The hood was developed to unzip and lie fully flat in opposition to the shoulders for comfort and ease inside the cockpit.
